Global Schools Forum (GSF)

To improve the visibility and understanding of the affordable non-state sector (ANS), IDP Foundation (IDPF) has been a central funder of GSF since 2017, as well as a board member of GSF’s Strategy and Fundraising board panels. In 2022, we planned funding for additional research around effective advocacy – a collaborative project with GSF, officially named “All Hands on Deck: learning how education providers can work together for more equitable education outcomes”. This will build the case for a new fund, to help scale initiatives leading to more inclusive, connected, transparent, and far-reaching education systems.

In alignment with IDPF’s overall funding strategy of championing the affordable non-state sector so it’s better recognized, integrated, and supported, GSF is focused on enabling non-state education organizations to improve education at scale for underserved children in low and middle-income countries.
GSF’s highly engaged, diverse community of 69 non-state education organizations across 51 countries collectively runs or supports 30,000 schools, giving education to over 5 million children. That, along with established methods for engaging through learning and sharing, uniquely positions it to be able to identify promising solutions, and drive collaborative action toward helping all children realize their potential through safe access to quality education.
IDPF’s strategy for improving education access for all children and positioning the ANS to deliver better outcomes for all aligns with GSF’s key Impact @Scale Labs initiative aimed at supporting promising education innovations to scale-up and build evidence producing replicable and adaptable solutions which provide access to quality education for all.
