International Day of the Girl
Today marks the 9th Anniversary of International Day of the Girl. This year’s theme, “My voice, our equal future,” a call to inspire, empower, and educate. #IDG2020 #dayofthegril #girlstakeover #girlhero #IDPFoundation
In honor of this years’ International Day of the Girl, under the theme “My voice, our equal future”, IDP Foundation joined in supporting the 2020 digital campaign aimed at amplifying girls’ voices and standing up for their rights. Through promoting the hashtag #IDG2020 and education-related facts across our digital channels, we focused on bringing attention to girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face all over the world.
Around the world, 132 million girls are out of school, including 34.3 million primary school-aged girls (UNICEF). At IDP Foundation we are supporters of girls’ empowerment. Through the provision of school loans that enable the addition of basic infrastructure, such as female toilets, and teacher training to create more girl-inclusive classrooms, we help to support girls in accessing more inclusive and better quality education.
The main aim of International Day of the Girl is to promote girl’s empowerment and fulfilment of their human rights, while also highlighting the challenges that girls all over the world face.
