Last month, IDPF and Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance came together again to support the Ashesi Innovation Experience (AIX), Ashesi University’s annual enrichment program for high school students.
During the two-week program, local senior high school students travelled to the beautiful Ashesi University campus, to build concrete skills like leadership and design thinking, and have the opportunity to choose from a variety of engaging learning activities, including creative arts, engineering, entrepreneurship, and robotics.

The IDP Foundation and Harambe sponsored 5 students to attend this year, from schools that have participated in the IDP Rising Schools Program (IDPRSP). During the first week, students learned what it means to be a leader and an innovator, in order to be inspired to create a successful future for themselves and their communities. Many of the students finished the first week feeling empowered to be an agent and leader of positive change.

We have learned many things here at AIX and I have promised myself that I will put them into practice even after I have left. -Mathias Ankomah, One of the IDPRP students attending AIX

The second week allowed the students to choose what they would like to learn more about. One IDPRSP student chose to be in the creative arts module, one chose the robotics course, and the last three attended the entrepreneurship module. All modules provided the students a chance to have fun while they learned valuable skills; they went on field trips, designed materials, and even staged a play.
One student that attended the entrepreneurship field trip shared with us his main takeaway: “As an entrepreneur, one must always be a critical thinker and also have the courage to face any and all ups and downs in one’s business.”

We are so happy to use our partnership with Harambe to help more children have access to important and innovative educational opportunities that they will take with them for many years to come!
