Tutoring Chicago fosters pathways for success by positively influencing the relationship that elementary school children have with learning. We do this by providing economically disadvantaged children in Chicago with free one to one tutoring by adult volunteers, along with quality resources and programming.
Tutoring Chicago (formerly Cabrini Green Tutoring Program) has been supporting kids in Cabrini Green and beyond for 47 years. With a solid history behind us and an even-stronger future ahead, they offer kids the stability of a trustworthy organization. Beyond classroom help, students also benefit from structure, a positive environment, and a safe place to learn, grow and discover.
Their students come from economically disadvantaged families from the Near North and Near West neighborhoods as well as the Logan Square area. Tutoring sessions are held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30pm. Each student is paired with his/her own volunteer tutor. The program provides a safe, stable learning environment and individualized attention for the children.
The IDP Foundation, Inc. has chosen to support Tutoring Chicago to help promote dedication to defining and responding to children’s needs and creating quality, innovative and instructional programs that are not only educational, but boost self-esteem. IDP Foundation, Inc. believes that education is the way to conquer the world’s greatest challenges and the mission of Tutoring Chicago is working in line with that philosophy.
