Joyce Opoku, the proprietor of Lucky Child Daycare Centre, started her school in 2005 with seven children. She started the school because she wanted to give little children a good foundation before entering first grade. Her father gave her his house in Atonsu, a suburb of Kumasi, to use as the initial school building.
Joyce took a loan of 2,000 cedis to renovate her school infrastructure. With these funds, she tiled the floors, installed sliding windows, and painted the school. She completed all of her payments during the six month repayment period.
Joyce said she has benefitted very much from the IDP Rising Schools Program. She has become more open-minded and knows how to direct affairs properly in her school because of IDPRSP training. Her school’s enrollment has increased, and she is now able to keep track of all school finances.
