Humane Education
Advocates Reaching Teachers (HEART)
provides services that are specially
designed to provide a combined focus on
human rights, animal protection and
environmental ethics. Their direct
services to educators and students, as
well as their city and state level
advocacy efforts, enable them to
significantly impact the way young people
think about their responsibility to one
another, animals and the natural world.
By linking their
age-appropriate instructional program to
their service-based learning program,
students are given the tools to make
positive changes. They are the only
full-service provider of humane education
in the New York City and Chicago areas and
reach thousands of students each year with
their programs. Their services are offered
at no cost to schools and other non-profit
agencies and focus on at-risk youth.
The HEART program
addresses key issues in education and fits
into the IDP Foundation’s strategy to
support educational content that enhances
the classroom experience and creates a
thoughtful student culture.
